Welcome to the ABM blog
Breastfeeding is a public health issue, and physicians play a pivotal role in ensuring that mothers and babies can meet their breastfeeding goals. The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine is an international organization dedicated to the promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding and human lactation.
ABM’s web site features evidence-based protocols for management of common breastfeeding problems, as well as information about membership for physicians who want to learn more about breastfeeding.
On this blog, members of ABM will share their take on breastfeeding-related stories in the news, recent research studies, papers in Breastfeeding Medicine, professional experience managing breastfeeding issues, and other topics. Posts reflect the opinions of individual ABM members, not the organization as a whole.
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to offer individual medical advice on this blog. If you’re looking for a physician with advanced breastfeeding training in your community, please contact our main office.
Thank you very much for having this resource available. I’ve just read almost every article to date, and will be bringing a card with the link to my next well baby visit. . . my pediatrician admitted at an early visit that he didn’t know a lot about breastfeeding problems (Luckily LLL did) but could refer me to someone who did if I needed it- now there’s a way he can learn some more without taking a lot of time
